The company
Our Story
Our company was founded in 1999 from an ambitious project: Pietro Faniglione’s desire to create something of his own, starting from the land, guided by a genuine passion for viticulture and wine, passed down through generations, and by his love for his homeland, the Valle d’Itria.
Harvest after harvest, through sacrifices and achievements, that dream gradually took shape, growing with the patience of those who understand the value of time.
We started with a small plot of land, in the Montemarcuccio area, and a single wine, the white Verdeca. Today we produce five wines, our vineyards cover approximately six hectares, and we cultivate native varieties such as Verdeca, Bianco d’Alessano, Minutolo, and Ottavianello. Each row is carefully tended, with full respect for nature and its rhythms, ensuring the quality of our products.
Alongside Pietro, his family and a few trusted collaborators carefully oversee every stage of production, maintaining the character of a family-run winery.
Every bottle tells our story, and our commitment is to ensure that this story continues to grow with the same spirit with which it began.
Between past and present: the history of our vines
Ottavianello
A black grape variety introduced to Puglia at the end of the 19th century, particularly in San Vito dei Normanni, thanks to the Marquis of Bugnano. It is known in France as Cinsault and in South Africa as Hermitage.
Today, it is a rare variety that only a few producers choose to vinify as a single varietal. We have done so, convinced of its potential and its ability to express elegance and a strong sense of place.
Its thin skin and naturally low color concentration give rise to delicate wines that are never excessive, where finesse and drinkability take center stage.
For this reason, we vinify it in different expressions: as a rosé, with Fos rosé and Miranto, and as a red wine with Elpis.
Verdeca
An indigenous grape variety from Puglia, deeply connected to our land: the Valle d’Itria. Probably of Greek origin, it owes its name to the color of its berries, which remain green even at full ripeness.
Today it is one of the most widespread varieties in our area, but for us it represents much more: it is the grape with which everything began, the first vineyard we planted and the first wine we produced.
Verdeca gives life to fresh, direct, and terroir-driven wines, capable of expressing the identity of this area with simplicity.
We use it in our still white wine Primi Filari and in Fós bianco frizzante, where it plays a leading role alongside other indigenous varieties, including Minutolo and Bianco d’Alessano.
Minutolo
An ancient aromatic grape variety from Puglia, present for centuries in the Valle d’Itria and rediscovered only recently after a long period of neglect.
For many years it was confused with Fiano, but more recent studies have demonstrated its distinct identity, bringing renewed attention to a unique variety deeply rooted in our territory.
Minutolo stands out for its intense and recognizable aromatic profile, capable of adding personality even in small quantities.
For this reason, we use it in Fós bianco frizzante, in a blend with Verdeca and Bianco d’Alessano, where it enriches the aromatic complexity.
